BMW unveiled its flagship electric iX M60 at CES 2022.
The BMW iX M60, in which the company has combined “the best of the three worlds i, X and M”, is the third and most powerful all-electric crossover variant. In total, its power plant has 455 kW or 619 hp.
The company says it has the ability to accelerate from standstill to 100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km / h (50 km / h faster than the iX xDrive50), making the iX M60 the fastest EV ever. BMW Group.
Such impressive performance for a mid-size crossover is made possible by a twin-engine AWD transmission using fifth-generation eDrive technology, including a high-voltage battery with a total capacity of 111.5 kWh.
The two electric motors operate on the principle of a synchronous machine, while the rotor excitation is started by a precisely metered supply of electricity. BMW says this design completely eliminates the critical rare earth raw materials required for magnetic components in rotor manufacturing.
The rear engine with 360 kW (482 hp) has a very high power-to-weight ratio of 2.59 kW / kg, while the front engine is rated at 190 kW (255 hp) with a power-to-weight ratio of 1.96 kW / kg.
BMW estimates a maximum range of 566 km (WLTP) and a combined energy consumption of 21.4-19.8 kWh / km. The Universal Charger Unit (CCU) can handle charging up to 11 kW for AC or 200 kW for DC.
In the latter case, the battery charge level can rise from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes, while every 10 minutes of fast charging with constant current, the range increases by 150 km.
Unique features of the iX M60 electric vehicle include a specially tuned M Adaptive Dual Axle Suspension, carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components in the roof, sides and rear, a sports braking system with blue painted brake calipers and M logo, and other visual tweaks.
